1. Personal hygiene - always wash your hands very thoroughly, especially before handling or eating food. Carry some antibacterial hand gel or wipes with you for when no water is to hand.

2. Water - Refrain from drinking unbottled water of a dubious source. Always drink from a previously unopened, sealed bottle, preferrably sparkling water as tap water is often sold as still mineral water to unsuspecting holiday makers. Use mineral water also to brush your teeth. If you prepare a hot beverage, ensure the water is boiling for a good few minutes before using it.
