How it works

Salbutamol is a short-acting beta 2 agonist. It acts on the beta2-adrenergic receptor which is responsible for regulating muscle contraction/relaxation. Taking salbutamol has the effect of relaxing the muscles in the airways resulting in dilation of bronchial passages.

Taking Ventolin

Ventolin is a reliever medication and can be taken when the symptoms of asthma flare up or just before excersise or before comming in contact with somthing that can trigger an asthma attack.

Take 1-2 puffs on your inhaler as soon as you feel an asthma attack coming on. Follow best practive guidelines for inhaling and if required do use an inhaling chamber or bottle such as an Aero chamber. This will help to properly inhale the medication. Side Effects of taking Ventolin

There is a wide range of side effects that can occure from taking salbutamol some can be quite common ranging from 1 in 100 people to very rare occuring in only around 1 in 10,000 people. The most common side effects include;

Less common side effects which can occur once in every 1,000 to less than once in every ten housand include;
